Founded in 1948, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) is the representative national organization of manufacturers of electrical, professional electronics and allied equipment having over 750 members whose combined annual turnover is over Rs 1,10,000 crores i.e. US $ 25 billion.

IEEMA continues to provide unique services to its members.IEEMA undertakes various activities, major ones being dissemination of information of production statistics and government policy changes, representing the industry's views to the government, price variation clauses covering a wide range of products and evolving industry standards. Training for members and non-members on topical issues, library and business centre facilities are among the other initiatives on offer.

IEEMA as the representative organization for the industry is also a part of many councils and committees constituted by the Government.

Under IEEMA there are various division related with Electronics & Electrical industry, in this, Meter Division is one of them.

In the year 2005 IEEMA meter division took an initiative and formed a committee under IEEMA named IMDTC (IEEMA Meter Division Technical Committee). The committee works under the guidance & supervision of IEEMA meter division and is working various technical aspect such as evolving Interoperability standards, MRI Specification, Smart Meter, Smart Grid, AMI, etc.. Membership to the forum is open to all Meter Manufacturers those who are member of Meter Division.

The objective of IMDTC is to provide technical inputs / suggestions to Meter Division by working on technical things related to metering & metering related solutions such as HHU, Smart Meter, Smart Grid, AMI, etc. concerns of metering industry can be addressed while keeping government policies & regulations across the country into consideration.

IEEMA represents Indian electrical industry in today's rapidly changing business environment. The Association covers all sectors of the electrical and allied products business. IEEMA is, therefore, invited to represent the sector on many councils and committees constituted by the Government.

Being the first association from India to achieve an ISO certification in January 1998, IEEMA has now been recertified for ISO 9001-2000 I January 2003.

In order to contribute / participate effectively & efficiently in government policies, Meter division has formed a Technical Committee (IEEMA Meter Division Technical Committee (IMDTC)). The two committee’s that provides better management & develop solution as given below:

Administrative Committee is responsible for administrative and smooth functioning of the division, which constitute senior management of the respective member organization / manufacturers.

Technical Committee

Technical Committee is responsible for all technical development / queries / discussions / specification formulation on behalf of IEEMA Meter Division. This committee constitutes technical persons from respective member organization / manufacturers.
